DDC MLS continue to give back, we hear from their Operations Delivery Manager, Dženana Šećkanović who was one of the founders of the DDC MLS Humanitarian fund.
“2020 was an extremely challenging year for all across the world, the Pandemic was devastating for many individuals. Despite these challenges here at DDC MLS we felt it was important to be active and continue to support those in need.” Dženana expressed.
Dženana went on to give us a snapshot of the humanitarian work carried out in 2020 by the team in Bosnia & Herzegovina…
“In August one of the DDC MLS employees’ father, needed urgent eye surgery. Through the humanitarian initiative, colleagues organised and collected approximately 500 euros in only a few days, the funds enabled them to book and complete the surgery within 7 days. The surgery went well and was a great success.
A 7-year old girl, called Emina who is from a small city in Bosnia struggled with health issues since being born. In September, she required surgery, so a local charity was collecting donations, which DDC MLS donated 150 euros to. Through the collections, Emina was able to travel to Turkey for her specialist surgery.
We were very sad to hear that a young man Sasa from Sarajevo had been diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease several years ago. As soon as we heard about this, we donated 150 euros for his medications. In October, we also shared the humanitarian phone number for a local charity with our employees, they were collecting for a girl called Merjem, who needed immediate surgery to be able to walk again.
At the end of the year in November and December our thoughts turned to the beginning of a New Year. During this time, we organise gift donations for children from low-income families. Due to the pandemic in 2020, we worked alongside a large charity fund in Bosnia – Pomozi.ba, to support the DDC MLS team with preparing gifts and delivering the gifts across country for the Children over the holiday period. The children were so pleased and as with all our humanitarian efforts it brought the team great joy to help during a difficult year.”
Dženana says that DDC MLS will continue to support the community both within and outside the company and looks forward to making humanitarian plans throughout 2021.
